What is the MSJ Datathon?
We are the first nationwide high school sports analytics research competition. Whether you are looking for a place to test your quantitative skills or are merely a sports fan looking to better understand the MLB, NBA, NHL, or NFL, competing in the MSJ Datathon will allow you to learn and compete!
Congrats to this year's winner, Paranjai Patil!
Paranjai's project "Understanding Two Point Decisions" was chosen as the best project by our judging panel.
How does it work?
Every year high school students are presented with a sports analytics question and must compile a comprehensive research report that provides a data-driven analysis of this question. Projects are judged by field professionals and front office analysts (Dean Oliver, Phillip Chang, just to name a few), and finalists are selected. From this finalist pool, a final winner is determined after a series of presentations.
